About the Early Childhood Center The Darwin “Bud” Strohm ½ day Early Childhood Center will provide a high-quality, developmentally appropriate pre-school program that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children ages 3-5. Students become familiar with school rules and routines while participating in learning activities. DBS is a partnership with students, parents, staff, and community. It is our shared commitment to create a safe learning environment to help students reach their highest level of performance by meeting their individual academic, social, and emotional needs. Our goal is to develop lifelong learners that are productive members of society. All children must be 3 years old by July 31st. Children should be toilet trained before starting preschool. The staff includes one preschool instructor, one special education instructor and one early childhood paraprofessional. Preschool classes are two days per week for age 3 and 4, and three days per week for 5 year olds. If your child is 4 years of age and will be attending kindergarten the following year, they may enroll in the three day session. 2-day Sessions: Monday/Wednesday 8:30 – 11:30 or Tuesday/Thursday 8:30 – 11:30
